Caledonian Travel’s Top Ten Disney Films - Part Two

Remember a few months ago when we gave you part-one of our Top Ten Disney Films? Well, here at Caledonian Travel HQ, we're back with another five for part two!

After our last blog on Disney Films, we ran a few straw polls on social media to find out YOUR top Disney films! So, with plenty of nostalgia, laughter, and a little friendly disagreement, we’re back with Part Two of Caledonian Travel’s Top Ten Disney Films. Whether you’re team princess, team Pixar, or team “that film always makes me cry,” these next five are all-time greats that keep the Disney magic alive.

Mulan

Released in 1998, Mulan remains one of Disney’s most empowering classics.

Inspired by the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, the story tells of a brave young woman who disguises herself as a man to take her father’s place in the army.

Mulan’s courage, wit, and determination make her one of Disney’s most iconic heroes. With unforgettable characters like Mushu the dragon (voiced hilariously by Eddie Murphy) and the stirring anthem “Reflection”, the film blends emotion and adventure perfectly.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The one that started it all. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs hit cinema screens way back in 1937, Disney’s first full-length animated feature and the film that changed cinema forever.

Snow White’s story is as timeless as it gets: a young princess with a kind heart, a jealous queen, a poisoned apple, and seven unforgettable dwarves who steal every scene (particularly Dopey!). It was an animation milestone, a mix of innocence, danger, and pure fairy-tale magic that set the tone for decades of Disney storytelling to come.

Of course, when you get to Disneyland Paris, you and your family can step into the Snow White’s Enchanted Wish attraction with the iconic viewpoint of the main character.

Toy Story

“You’ve got a friend in me!”, just a few notes of that Randy Newman classic and you’re instantly transported back to the mid-90s.

Released in 1995, Toy Story was the first fully computer-animated feature film, and it changed the world of animation forever. It gave us Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and a world where toys had feelings, loyalties, and plenty of hilarious rivalries.

It’s a story about friendship, jealousy, and what it means to grow up, themes that hit home no matter how old you are. From the first time Woody shouts “You… are… a toy!” to Buzz’s dramatic attempts at flight, Toy Story is pure nostalgia, and one of Disney Pixar’s crown jewels.

Cool Runnings

“Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, it’s bobsled time!”

Yes, this 1993 classic IS a Disney film! Although not your typical fairy tale, it’s a true story that captured hearts everywhere. Cool Runnings tells the story of Jamaica’s first bobsleigh team, who defied expectations to compete in the 1988 Winter Olympics.

It’s funny, uplifting, and just the right mix of silly and serious, the kind of film that makes you smile every single time. Just like a break to Disneyland Paris with Caledonian!

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas

“Merry Christmas, everyone!” When Mickey says it, it somehow feels like the warmest and most genuine festive message. Well, maybe second to Caly the Lion.

Released in 1999, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas is a charming anthology that brings together three short stories starring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and all the classic Disney favourites. Each tale focuses on the spirit of giving, family, and learning what really matters at Christmas.

It’s a cosy slice of old-school Disney magic, festive, wholesome, and packed with heart. Whether it’s Goofy trying to keep the Christmas dream alive for Max or Mickey and Minnie finding meaning beyond presents, it’s the kind of film that makes you want to curl up with a blanket, a mug of cocoa, and a bit of nostalgia.

Which one’s your favourite? Tell us over on Facebook - and keep an eye out for our next Disney blog, as we’ll be sharing even more ways you can experience the magic for yourself with our Disneyland Paris breaks and the fantastic Disneyland hotels you can stay in!
