St Patrick’s Day has been an important date in the Irish calendar for a long time, as well as being a much-celebrated day all over the world.

So, how did it all begin?

St Patrick lived during the 5th century and is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland, credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. It is reported that St Patrick’s Day was officially observed as a Roman Catholic feast day back in the 9th or 10th century, with the first parade actually taking place in America in 1601. Today, St Patrick’s Day celebrates the rich culture and heritage of Ireland.
