With the many attractions and things to do in Brighton, it’s not surprising that it’s become one of the most visited seaside resorts on the south coast of England.

This tourist destination, located in the beautiful county of East Sussex, has been welcoming holidaymakers for many years. It really all began back in 1841, with the opening of the London to Brighton railway, making it possible for people to have days out in the resort.

1. Have a wander down The Lanes

In the heart of Brighton’s historic quarter, you’ll find The Lanes, a maze of narrow streets and alleyways. A wander around this area is a perfect way to soak up the atmosphere in one of England’s most beautiful medieval locations. The Lanes offers an eclectic mix of interesting shops, exclusive boutiques and unique art galleries. You’ll also find lots of pubs, tea rooms and restaurants for when you want to relax, have a drink and watch the world go by.

2. Stroll along Brighton Promenade and visit the beach

A break in the delightful seaside resort of Brighton would not be complete without a leisurely stroll along the 4-mile promenade, allowing you to appreciate the city’s cosmopolitan atmosphere. And why not take some to also relax on the beach, taking in the stunning views of the Sussex coastline? Underneath the Victorian beachfront arches, there are lots of seafront bars that are ideal to visit after a day on the beach – the whole area is a real hive of activity.

3. Marvel at Brighton Palace Pier

Did you know that Brighton Pier is one of the oldest piers in the UK? The Pier opened back in 1899 and is one of the seaside resort’s most impressive landmarks. Today, it’s often described as a waterfront theme park, although it has still very much retained its Victorian charm. It’s had millions of pounds spent on it over recent years, bringing it into the 21st century, with its year-round entertainment, arcades, activities, rides and restaurants.

In the heart of the cultural quarter of the Brighton, you’ll find the North Laine Shopping District, home to over 300 shops, along with pubs, cafés, theatres and museums. You can experience a unique shopping experience in this bohemian quarter, thanks to its impressive selection of independent retailers. You’ll also be able to discover a superb array of paintings, ceramics and sculptures, crafted by local artists.

5. Visit the picturesque Brighton Marina

It’s definitely worth visiting Brighton Marina - the UK’s largest marina located within beautiful waterfront surroundings. As well as featuring a working harbour, it’s a No. 1 lifestyle destination with its cinema, bowling alley, specialist stores, fashion boutiques and gift shops. There are lots of waterside restaurants too, making it a fantastic place to socialise and have fun.

6. Explore Preston Park

Enjoy some relaxing time in the delightful surroundings of Preston Park, a great way to escape the hustle and bustle. Not only was it the first public park to open in the Brighton and Hove area, it’s also the largest with its 63 acres of parkland. You can discover the wildflower gardens, a restored walled garden and many fine trees. The park is also home to some fascinating buildings, including the Rotunda, Clock Tower and Tile House.

7. Check Out the Stunning Royal Pavilion Gardens

Take a walk and explore the stunning gardens which surround Brighton’s magnificent Royal Pavilion. Visiting this green haven is just the perfect way to relax, whilst also looking out for local wildlife, including squirrels, blue tits, butterflies and chaffinches. The Regency gardens are truly breathtaking and were fully restored by following John Nash’s 1820s plans.

8. Enjoy the Lively Village Feel of Kemptown

Located to the east of the centre of Brighton, and stretching as far as far as the Marina, Kemptown has been named as one of the coolest neighbourhoods…in the World! The area has been massively regenerated over the years and is loved by many due to its relaxed atmosphere, stunning seafront and bohemian vibes. It’s actually been a popular place for people to visit since the late 18th century and is home to a great selection of independent shops.These are just a selection of some of the things you can do in this delightful seaside resort.
