GO GREEN...GO CALEDONIAN

It’s becoming more important than ever to consider how we can have the lowest impact on the natural environment and at a time when people are looking to make better eco-friendly choices to reduce their carbon footprint, coach travel is recognised as the most sustainable mode of transport for holiday choices and will play a key role as the UK aims to reach its net zero target by 2050

There are many ways in which you can do your bit for your environment, including making eco-friendly choices when travelling and going on holiday.

It’s undeniable that changing how we travel will make a huge difference on our planet.

Whilst there will always be a carbon footprint when travelling from A to B in a motorised vehicle, there’s one mode of transport that’s a much greener option than others – and that’s travelling by bus or coach.

Let’s take a look at why this mode of transport is now considered as one of the most eco-friendly ways to travel:

More Passengers Per Trip

One of the main reasons why coach travel creates a much smaller carbon footprint when compared to other vehicles, is due to the number of passengers that can be transported per trip.

Rather than having people travelling in their own private vehicles, all releasing their own emissions, a coach is just one vehicle on the road that can transport around 50 people. Average carbon dioxide emissions per coach passenger per journey are six times lower than car travel, five times lower than air and around 1.5 times lower than rail.

To put it into perspective, did you know that one coach can actually take a staggering 1 mile of cars off the road?

Reduced Congestion on the Roads

When you’ve got lots of vehicles on our roads, this can undoubtedly result in issues with road congestion.

As chemicals pollute the atmosphere, the air quality worsens, and all this has a negative impact on our environment. And there is also noise pollution to consider too.

It is estimated that a 15% increase in coach passenger journeys by British people each year would lead to approximately 47 million fewer cars on the road, saving over a quarter of a million tonnes of carbon dioxide and significantly reducing congestion on our roads

Modern Coaches Using the Latest Technologies

As you will have noticed, technological advances seem to be happening faster and faster these days.

With so much effort being put into the development of emission-reducing technologies and how to increase fuel efficiency, we need to take advantage of this.

With Caledonian Travel, you’ll travel to your holiday destination in a modern and comfortable coach – you can rest assured that you’re doing your bit for the environment with this green form of transport.

More Reasons to Holiday by Coach…

As well as being a very green way to travel, there are many other great reasons to choose a coach holiday.

They are considered by many as a great option for enjoying some time away:

- Experience a Relaxed Holiday
- Explore New Places
- Travel in Comfort
- Enjoy Scenic Views from The Coach
- Choose from a Wide Range of Destinations

And it’s also a very cost-effective way to have a breakaway when you consider increases in fuel costs, train fares etc.

At Caledonian Travel, we even offer a Price Match Promise, so our customers can be confident that they’re getting the best value break.
