Would you go to the top? It offers views for miles across Blackpool, the north-west of England, and across the Irish Sea.

And then of course, there’s the iconic Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Fast, family fun for the entire family – with rides such as The Icon, The Big One, Gallopers Carousel, Alice In Wonderland Dark Ride and the classic Big Dipper which is now 100 years old.

If you do like to be beside the seaside, Blackpool’s three piers are open to everyone. The North Pier comes with Grade II listed status, and the sandy beach welcomes families and friends of all ages to build sandcastles and eat ice-creams along the prom.

Food and drink?  No problem. Blackpool is awash with places to eat, including loads of fish and chip shops! And if you want a tipple or two there’s a large number of pubs and bars to choose from, all age groups are catered for.

Did you know...? Blackpool gets its name from an old drainage channel that used to release dark, boggy water into the Irish sea, creating a black pool of water?  And across the sea, 'Dublin' is named after the same thing, with 'Dubh Linn' meaning 'black pool' in Irish.
